INFORMATION FOR PAKISTANI COMMUNITY IN AUSTRALIA

THE GOVERNMENT OF PAKISTAN HAS EXTENDED FACILITIES AND SERVICES FOR PAKISTANI COMMUNITIES . PAKISTANI ORIGIN FOREIGN NATIONALS CAN OBTAIN NICOP WHICH ENTITLES THEM TO  ENTRY FROM ELIGIBLE ROUTES  INTO PAKISTAN WITHOUT VISA, DUAL NATIONALITY PASSPORTS, AND  OTHER FACILITIES WHEN THEY VISIT  PAKISTAN.

PAKISTANI CITIZENS  ARE ENTITLED TO SOME DUTY FREE GOODS WHEN THEY RETURN/GO TO PAKISTAN , DEPENDING ON LENGTH OF STAY ABROAD AND AMOUNT OF FOREIGN EXCHANGE REMITTED. UNDER TRANSFER OF RESIDENCE, THEY CAN ALSO TAKE SECOND HAND CARS WITH DUTY DISCOUNTS. THESE FACILITIES ARE ALSO EXTENDED TO PAKISTANI CITIZEN WITH DUAL NATIONALITY AS WELL AS A FOREIGN NATIONAL WITH PAKISTAN ORIGIN CARD.   THIS CONSULATE WILL  ISSUE EARNING CERTIFICATES FOR GIFT SCHEME AND TRANSFER OF RESIDENCE.

Increased facilities announced for Foreign Exchange Remittance Card ( FERC) has also been announced by the government ( SDRO 666(1)/2006 dt June 28th 2006. In addition to other allowances, Pakistani nationals having FERC has been extended duty credits for purchase from Duty Free Shops in Pakistan or unaccompanied baggage ( except vehicles) in increase slabs. Now there are five categories, silver, silver+, Golden, Golden+ and Platinum for remittance of $ more than 2500, 5000, 10000,25000 and 50000, respectively , of US$ or equivalent currency. Same amount of duty credit in Pakistani Rupees respectively will be allowed.

 SPECIAL ALLOWANCE FOR FOREIGN EXCHANGE REMITTANCE CARD (FERC) HOLDERS  

  The Government of Pakistan in the Federal Budget has announced incentives for the FERC holders, beside increasing the number of cards from two categories to five (5). In this context Central Board of Revenue (Revenue Division), Islamabad has issued SRO 666(1)/2006 dated June 28, 2006 incorporating Special allowances for Foreign Exchange Remittance Card holders, which states as under;

Special allowance for Foreign Exchange Remittance Card holders In addition to the allowances hereinbefore provided, the duty credit as specified in the Table below shall be admissible to a Pakistani national holding Foreign Exchange Remittance Card (FERC) once in a calendar year. The duty credit can also be utilized for the unaccompanied baggage or any purchase from one of the duty free shops. The duty credit under this scheme shall not be utilizable on the import of vehicles. Utilization of duty credit shall be endorsed by the customs on the passport of an FERC holder.
