The High Commission hosted a special youth event to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day and commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The event brought together children and young members of the Pakistani community, providing them an opportunity to celebrate Pakistan’s heritage and learn about the life, vision and legacy of the nation’s founding father.
The programme featured performances by children to national songs, including a Rubab performance by a young Pakistani student, as well as a documentary on Quaid-e-Azam. Painting, essay-writing and speech competitions were also organised on the theme “Quaid-e-Azam: Leadership, Vision and Legacy.” The competitions received enthusiastic participation from children and youth. The High Commissioner presented certificates to all participants and prizes to the winners.
Addressing the gathering, the High Commissioner encouraged young Pakistanis to uphold the principles of Quaid-e-Azam, remain connected with their heritage and play a positive role in further strengthening the bonds between Pakistan and Australia. He also appreciated the contribution of the ACT Urdu Language School in promoting the Urdu language and cultural awareness among children.
The event was warmly appreciated by members of the Pakistani community and reflected the High Commission’s commitment to engaging the younger generation of the Pakistani diaspora and fostering a strong connection with Pakistan’s heritage and values.
