According to Pakistan Citizenship Act:

Any parent or guardian of the child born in Australia must report to the High Commission in writing on Birth Registration Form, within 6 months of the birth.

Only residents of the ACT, Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory may apply to the High Commission in Canberra. Those residing in South Australia, Tasmania, and Victoria may apply to our Consulate General in Melbourne. Residents of NSW may apply to our Consulate General in Sydney.

Required Documents

  • Filled in and signed Form S Birth Registration (word file)Form S Birth Registration (pdf file)
  • Birth Certificate of child attested by the Justice of the Peace (JP)
  • Marriage Certificate of parents attested by JP
  • CNICs / NICOPs of parents attested by JP
  • Pakistani / Australian Passports of parents attested by JP
  • Three Passport size photos of child (mentioning name of child on the back of photos)
  • In case of one parent not being a Pakistani national, a Letter of Consent from the non-Pakistani parent attested by JP.

Note: Documents may be submitted in person or through mail / courier. For delivery of the Certificate through post, please provide a pre-paid self-addressed Registered / Express Post Envelope.

Processing Fee

  • Processing fee is AUD 20.00 (non-refundable).
  • Fee may be paid through Postal Money Order in favour of “High Commission for Pakistan” or EFTPOS (bank charges apply) – all credit / debit cards, except American Express, are accepted.
  • No cash payment is accepted.

Checklist before Visit

  • Fill in Birth Registration Form
  • If you are not visiting the High Commission, pay the Fee through Postal Money Order and send all completed documents by post.

Visit Day

  • Bring required documents to the High Commission.
  • Pay Fee and submit documents.

Documents Ready

Processing time is two weeks after completion of all documents.
